What can I expect to earn my first year? This is one of the most common questions asked by new agents entering the field. The answer will depend on many factors. One of the most important will be based on the effort you put into your job. According to the National Association of Realtors the national average income based on a 40 hour work week is $61,200.00. Since this is a national average do consider that the marketplace you work in will dictate your potential earnings. Take for example if the average sales price in your area is $400,000 you may be over this average and vice versa. When you hire on with a brokerage you will most likely be hired as an independent contractor. This basically means you are in business for yourself. There are pros and cons to this. The biggest advantage is that your income potential is not limited as it might be in an employee situation. You will earn what you are worth. So being able to earn as much as you want sounds like good news, right?  Did I mention the cons? There are a few yet ,the positive will out way the negative .As an independent contractor you will set your own hours, be your own boss and control your own destiny.

So what will you make your first year? I believe you should start out with a business plan and set attainable goals with your marketplace in mind. If you are committed you should be able to meet your goals your first year.
