One of the most asked questions is " When can I expect to have my first sale?" This is a question with no specific answer as it will depend on what activities you have been doing to generate leads. When you first start in the business you should first of all let your sphere of influence know that you are now in the real estate business. Usually an introductory mailing to your friends and family is the first place to start. A phone call is always better or even a follow up phone call after your mailing. Often this will reveal someone that is looking to buy or sell and may result in a sale or listing.

Open houses are also a great opportunity to get in front of potential buyers and or sellers. Of course you most likely will not have any of your own listing to sit so the best thing to do is leverage the companies current inventory. Often times this is another lead generator that may lead to your first sale. I suggest holding open houses each Saturday and Sunday at first as these are the days you will receive the most traffic.

These are a few areas that might bring you that first sale and there are many other things you can do to generate business. Your first sale will be the result of hard work and persistence. You can certainly expect at minimum your first sale within your first six months or sooner. You must be patient because the buyer you meet today may not find a home for 30 days or longer and then that sale most likely will not close for another 30 days. It is recommended to have a minimum of six months living expenses in reserves.
