Every occupation requires the use of some basic tools, whether it be electronic or simply some type of reference. Many new agents ask, what will I weed to start off my real estate career? Each individuals needs will be different yet here are a few must haves to get you started.

1.) Laptop computer, this will enable you to access the multiple listing service at home, in the office or on the go if you have a wireless service. You will also utilize the computer to organize your contacts most likely using  a contact management program.

2.) Lock Box Key, this will enable you access to properties listed in the multiple listing service. You will purchase or lease this through the local Realtor association you join.

3.Reliable transportation is certainly a necessity. You don't need a fancy car but if you are going to be selling luxury homes you may want to give the right impression, in other word the old VW van probably won't go over well to the client looking for that million dollar home! Four doors are best and many suv's are comfortable also.

4.) Cell Phone. I'm sure you already have this.

As you can see you do not need an arsenal of tools to get started but once it makes financial  sense you may consider a pda or personal digital assistant to track appointments and contacts , a fax machine for home use and a digital camera to send out of town clients home photos.
